I have compiled a list of common and not so common errors and mistakes that people makes when running and promoting their websites. I have listed these in dot point format. This is a brief overview aimed at helping you realize some of the mistakes you may be making and so you can work on fixing or changing them up.Mistakes People Make With Their Websites:
- Site is not properly set up before they open/begin promotion:
- Use of poor english/grammar in any area of running the site or promoting:
- Attempting to start a site in a genre they have no or poor knowledge on:
- Only Promoting on 1 type of site (ie. just using forums) rather than a range:
- Initially promoting the site then not continually promoting after this:
- Thinking success will come without hard work:
- Spamming or ripping off people and creating a bad reputation for themselves:
- Not using keywords when promoting:
- Failing to make use of forum signatures as a promotional method:
- Not staying active/actively updating their website:
- Not using social networks such as Facebook or Twitter:
- Copying another successful website and expecting the same success:
- Failing to have a unique twist to their site:
- Not continuing to stay up to date with latest tips, tricks, advice and news related to their site and promotion/advertising:
- Acting all cocky and as if your site is better than other people’s:
- Promising something and not living up to the promise:
- Using illegal methods, programs or software:
- Failing to be innovative in their promotion campaign:
- Trying to manage multiple websites at once thus they all fail to become active/successful:
- Thinking that you know all you can about promotion and failing to continue improving your promotion knowledge:
Remember…these are only 20 of the mistakes people make, there are thousands. If you don’t make these mistakes, that’s on step ahead of most of your competition that you’ll be!
